How to download a Twitter video
You can download videos from Twitter in three steps, on any phone or computer. There is nothing to install and you don't need an X account.
- Copy the tweet link. Open the post on X. Tap the share icon and choose "Copy link". On a computer you can copy the address from the browser bar. It looks like x.com/username/status/1234567890.
- Paste it above. Paste the link into the box at the top of this page and press Download. Links from twitter.com, x.com and mobile.twitter.com all work.
- Pick a quality and save. Choose the resolution you want. The video downloads straight to your device as an MP4. On an iPhone, tap "Save video" when it is ready and it goes to your Photos.
That's the whole process. The same steps work for a single video, a post with several videos, and a video inside a quoted post.
Save Twitter videos on iPhone and Android
iPhone and iPad
Use Safari or Chrome. When the download finishes, the button turns into Save video. Tap it and choose Save Video in the share sheet, and the clip goes straight to your Photos app. If you pick Save to Files instead, you'll find it in Files → Downloads.
Android
Tap Download MP4 and the file saves to your Downloads folder. Most gallery apps (Google Photos, Samsung Gallery) show it within a few seconds. If it doesn't appear, open the Files app and look in Downloads.
Windows, Mac and Chromebook
The MP4 saves to your usual downloads folder, named with the post ID and quality (for example twigor-2112881128176603476-720p.mp4), so it's easy to find later.
Download GIFs from Twitter
Here's something most people don't know: X doesn't actually keep GIFs as GIF files. When someone posts a GIF, X turns it into a short, silent MP4 that loops. That's why a "GIF" you save with other tools often ends up as a video.
With this tool you get both options. Download MP4 gives you the clip exactly as X stores it, which is small and sharp. Download GIF converts it into a real animated .gif inside your browser, ready for chat apps, slides or forums that only accept GIFs. The conversion happens on your device, so it works even for large GIFs without uploading anything.
Which quality should you pick?
X stores most videos in two to four sizes, and we show all of them, from best to smallest, with the expected file size.
- 1080p or 720p: the best choice for watching on a laptop or TV, or for editing.
- 480p: good on a phone and about half the size.
- 320p or lower: handy when you're on mobile data or just want to share a quick clip.
We never re-compress the video. The file you get is the one X itself plays, so there's no extra quality loss.
What this X video downloader can't save
- Posts from private (protected) accounts. Only approved followers can see them.
- Deleted posts and posts from suspended accounts.
- Live broadcasts and Spaces. Once a broadcast ends, its replay sometimes works.
- Most age-restricted videos. X hides these from anyone who isn't signed in.
If a link doesn't work, open it on X first and check that you can watch it without logging in.
Is it legal to download Twitter videos?
Saving a public video to watch later is generally fine. Re-uploading someone else's video, cutting it into your own content or using it in ads is a different matter: you need the owner's permission for that. If you want to share a clip, the simplest option is to repost or quote the original post, which also credits the creator.
Twigor doesn't host or store any videos. Files go straight from X's servers to your device.
Twitter video download: FAQ
Is this Twitter video downloader free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no app to install. We keep a fair-use limit (15 videos a minute, 150 a day) so the tool stays fast for everyone.
How do I download a Twitter video on iPhone?
Copy the tweet link in the X app, paste it here in Safari and press Download. When the file is ready, tap "Save video" and choose "Save Video" in the share menu. It lands in your Photos app. On older iOS versions the file goes to the Files app instead, in Downloads.
Can I download GIFs from Twitter?
Yes. X stores GIFs as short MP4 clips, so you can save them as MP4 right away, or press "Download GIF" and we convert the clip into a real .gif file inside your browser.
Why can't I download a video from a private account?
Posts from protected (private) accounts are only visible to approved followers, so no public tool can reach them. The same goes for deleted posts and most age-restricted posts.
What is the best quality I can get?
You get every quality X stores for that video, usually up to 720p or 1080p. We never re-encode it, so the file you download is the same one X plays.
Do you keep a copy of the videos?
No. The video goes straight from X's servers to your device. Twigor never stores, hosts or sees the file, and we don't keep a list of what you download.
Is it legal to download videos from Twitter?
Saving a video for personal, offline viewing is generally fine. Re-uploading someone else's video or using it commercially needs the owner's permission. When in doubt, ask the creator or share the original post instead.
