The Cheapest Way to Get X Premium in 2026
Short answer
The cheapest way to get an X checkmark in 2026 is the Plus tier of The X Subscription: $8 a month in the US, and as of October 21, 2026 around $5.70 to $6.20 a month for the first six months in countries like Egypt, Turkey, Vietnam, Indonesia and Japan. If you already pay for the old X Premium at a local price, keeping it is often cheaper than switching. Pay on the web, not in the app, and only pick Premium ($30) if you need ad-free X or the Grok and Cursor extras.
Key takeaways
- Since October 12, 2026, new X customers buy The X Subscription: Free, Plus ($8), Premium ($30), Super ($100) and Ultra ($200) a month in the US.
- Plus is the new entry point for the checkmark. Premium on the new plans includes everything the old Premium+ had.
- As of October 21, 2026, Plus costs about 25% less for the first six months in many countries, from around $5.70 a month in Egypt and Turkey.
- Old X Premium plans keep their price until you switch. Switching is permanent, so compare before you move.
- Buying through the App Store or Google Play costs more than buying on x.com, because the stores add their commission.
- Changing your region to pay another country's price can break app store and payment terms. We don't recommend it.

X changed how it sells Premium in October 2026, and most “cheapest X Premium” guides haven’t caught up. The plan you’d buy today has a new name, the checkmark sits in a different tier, and local prices have moved.
Below is what each plan costs now, the countries where it’s cheapest, what the old Premium cost (still relevant if you’re on it), and the ways to pay less that don’t put your account at risk.
What changed with X Premium in 2026?
On October 12, 2026, X folded Premium into a bigger bundle called The X Subscription. Per X’s help page, it “brings Grok, Cursor, and X together” in one plan. New customers could sign up from October 13, and the rollout continued over the following days, according to TechMyMoney.
The new tiers, with US prices before tax from the pricing page as of October 2026:
| Tier | Price / month | What you get on X |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Standard X: post, reply, follow |
| Plus | $8 | Checkmark, fewer timeline ads, creator tools, advanced analytics |
| Premium | $30 | Everything in Plus, plus ad-free scrolling on most of X, a preferred @handle and a higher reply boost |
| Super | $100 | Same X benefits as Premium, with more Grok and Cursor usage |
| Ultra | $200 | Same X benefits, with the most usage and earliest access |
Two things stand out. First, the checkmark now starts at Plus, the $8 tier. Second, the new Premium includes what the old Premium+ had, for $30 instead of $40. The old $3 Basic tier has no equivalent.
If you already pay for the old Premium, nothing changes unless you act. X says your current plan and price “continue unless you change or cancel,” and warns that switching “is permanent. It can’t be undone, and Support can’t undo it for you.”
How much does X Plus cost in each country?
In most countries we checked, Plus is cheaper than in the US, and it’s about 25% off for the first six months. These are the prices X showed for Plus in each country when Twigor checked on October 21, 2026, converted to US dollars at that day’s exchange rates. Prices can change at any time and may vary with taxes and payment method.
| Country | First 6 months (local) | First 6 months (USD) | After that (local) | After that (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Egypt | E£308 | $5.71 | E£409.99 | $7.61 |
| Turkey | ₺285 | $5.75 | ₺379.99 | $7.66 |
| Vietnam | ₫149,250 | $5.77 | ₫199,000 | $7.70 |
| Indonesia | Rp104,250 | $5.77 | Rp139,000 | $7.70 |
| Thailand | ฿195 | $5.81 | ฿259 | $7.71 |
| Bangladesh | Tk 735 | $5.95 | Tk 980 | $7.93 |
| Algeria | $6 | $6.00 | $8 | $8.00 |
| Japan | ¥960 | $6.06 | ¥1,280 | $8.08 |
| Brazil | R$31 | $6.14 | R$40.90 | $8.10 |
| United States | $8 | $8.00 | $8 | $8.00 |
The pattern is clear: after the introductory period, Plus lands close to $8 almost everywhere. The real saving is the 25% discount at the start, which we didn’t see offered in the US.
What did the old X Premium cost by country?
On the old plans, the gap between countries was much bigger. If you’re still on one of these, this is the price you’d give up by switching. Local prices come from X’s official country table (published February 2025), converted at October 20, 2026 rates. Web prices, per month.
| Country | Old Premium (local) | Old Premium (USD) | vs. US |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nigeria | ₦3,650 | $2.74 | −66% |
| Turkey | ₺150 (₺180 incl. VAT today) | $3.03 ($3.63) | −62% |
| Egypt | E£244.99 | $4.54 | −43% |
| Japan | ¥980 | $6.19 | −23% |
| Chile | CLP 6,500 | $6.61 | −17% |
| Indonesia | Rp120,000 | $6.65 | −17% |
| India | ₹650 | $6.84 | −15% |
| Bangladesh | Tk 850 | $6.88 | −14% |
| Philippines | ₱440 | $6.98 | −13% |
| Canada | CA$10 | $7.09 | −11% |
| Vietnam | ₫189,000 | $7.31 | −9% |
| United States | $8 | $8.00 | – |
| Eurozone | €8 | $8.97 | +12% |
| United Kingdom | £8 | $10.65 | +33% |
| Colombia | COP 38,500 | $12.13 | +52% |
The old Premium+ showed the same kind of spread. Turkey was the cheapest at ₺1,450 (about $29.24), followed by Indonesia (about $36.22) and India (about $36.51), compared with $40 in the US.
Should you switch from the old Premium to Plus?
If you pay a local price on the old Premium, probably not yet. Compare the two tables for your country:
- Turkey: old Premium ₺180 a month (incl. VAT) vs. Plus ₺285 for six months, then ₺379.99. Staying put saves about ₺200 a month after the intro period.
- Egypt: old Premium E£244.99 vs. Plus E£308, then E£409.99.
- Vietnam: old Premium ₫189,000 vs. Plus ₫149,250 for six months, then ₫199,000. Plus is cheaper at first, slightly more expensive later.
- Old Premium+ users: the new Premium ($30 in the US) covers the same X benefits for less than Premium+ ($40). For you, switching can save money, if the Grok and Cursor bundle doesn’t matter either way.
Because the switch can’t be undone, check the exact price X shows you in your subscription settings on x.com before you confirm. Reports at launch also mentioned “limited-time offers” for existing subscribers in their billing settings, so look for one before switching.
What are the legit ways to pay less for X Premium?
Pick the smallest tier that covers what you need, pay on the web, and use the introductory price. In more detail:
- Buy Plus unless you need more. If you want the checkmark, creator tools and analytics, Plus does it. Premium ($30) makes sense only if you want ad-free X, the higher reply boost or the bundled Grok and Cursor usage.
- Subscribe on x.com, not in the app. App stores add their commission. On the old plans, Premium cost $8 a month on the web and $11 on iPhone, according to X-Autopilot. Open x.com in a browser, even on your phone.
- Look for the yearly option. On the old plans, yearly billing cost $84 instead of $96 for Premium. X’s pricing page lists monthly prices for the new plans, so check at checkout whether a yearly price is offered for your country.
- Use the first six months. In countries with the 25% intro offer, that’s roughly $11 to $13 saved over six months at today’s rates.
- Don’t switch blindly. If you’re on an old plan with a local price, keeping it is often the cheapest option, as shown above.
- Cancel what you don’t use. The pricing page says to cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid another charge.
Prices depend on your location and payment method. Paying from a different region usually needs a payment method from that country, app stores tie subscriptions to your account’s country, and a mismatch can get a purchase declined or cancelled later. It can also break the stores’ terms. We don’t recommend it, and it’s not worth the risk to your X account for a few dollars.
Is X Premium worth paying for?
It depends on how you use X. The checkmark and reply boost help most if you grow by replying under bigger accounts, because your replies can rank higher. Creator tools and analytics matter if you post a lot or earn from X.
What a subscription won’t do is bring followers by itself. Reach still comes from posts people want to see and from getting those posts in front of the right audience. We compared the paid options for that, from X Ads to promotion services, in X Promotion vs. X Ads vs. Buying Followers.
One last tip: if you subscribe and then change your username or profile photo, X removes the checkmark until it reviews the change. Our guide on how to change your Twitter username explains how to plan profile edits so you only go through that review once.
Frequently asked questions
How much is X Premium in 2026?
On The X Subscription, Plus costs $8 a month and Premium $30 a month in the US, before tax, as of October 2026. The old standalone plans were $3 (Basic), $8 (Premium) and $40 (Premium+) a month on the web.
Which country has the cheapest X Premium?
For the new Plus tier, Egypt and Turkey were the cheapest in our October 21, 2026 check, at about $5.71 and $5.75 a month for the first six months. On the old Premium plan, Nigeria (₦3,650, about $2.74) and Turkey were the cheapest.
Do I need Plus or Premium to get the blue checkmark?
Plus is enough. It includes the checkmark, fewer timeline ads, creator tools and advanced analytics. Premium adds ad-free scrolling on most of X, a preferred @handle, a higher reply boost and the bundled Grok and Cursor usage.
Can I still buy the old X Premium plan?
New customers are being moved to The X Subscription as it rolls out, though some markets still showed the older tiers at checkout in October 2026. If you already have the old plan, you keep it, at your current price, until you switch or cancel.
Is it cheaper to pay yearly?
On the old plans, yes: Premium cost $84 a year on the web, compared with $96 for twelve monthly payments. X's pricing page lists monthly prices for the new plans, so check the yearly option at checkout before you commit.
Should I use a VPN to get a cheaper X Premium price?
We don't recommend it. X sets prices by location and payment method, and the app stores tie your subscription to your account's country. A region mismatch can get a purchase declined or a subscription cancelled, and it can break the stores' terms.
